THE PORT CITY PEOPLE

A successful service organization is known by its people.  In the seventy two year history of Port City, literally hundreds of dedicated employees have come and gone.  Port City counts as one of its richest blessings "THE DEDICATED PROFESSIONALS"  that have served you on our behalf.  Our "Port City People" page is dedicated to the memory of those who have preceded us, many of whom are honored in our PORT CITY HALL OF FAME

 BILLY RAY BROWN
1926-2001

A
 RESOLUTION

In Appreciation of Faithful Service by

BILLY RAY BROWN
Whereas, Billy Ray Brown, a long time employee, associate, and friend passed to the sheltering arms of our precious Lord on April 16, 2001; and

Whereas, It is recognized by all, that this gentle, giant of a man, was a valued employee of a grateful company, a loving family man, and a friend beyond all description, scope and measure; and
Whereas, Billy Ray was nearing completion of his 54th year with the Company at the time of his passing, a tenure with one outfit that ordinary men will never measure. Billy Ray was appreciated for his service to the producer patrons of Port City over seven decades, and his unequivocal devotion and unbridled loyalty to the company, his co-workers, and his friends; and
Whereas, Billy Ray was the quintessential and consummate "Company Man" as he went about performing his duties on behalf of his Company as he was asked time and again to spearhead a new company endeavor. His considerable God given and acquired abilities and talents were put to use and brought much credit to his Company and to himself; and
Whereas, Billy Ray lived by a strict personal code of ethics that he did not compromise and thereby set himself apart from common man and made him trusted and admired by all with whom he came in contact. His magnetic personality drew not only those who knew him face to face, but also those who merely heard his calm, clear, strong, confident, and melodious voice on the many radio market broadcasts that he made for many years. He gained a listening audience that numbered in the tens of thousands because his magnetic voice simply "made one listen". His signature closing of his broadcasts of "Thank You and Have a Good Day", began the day on a joyful note for many who heard and listened; and
Whereas, Billy Ray Brown set the high mark for all Port City employees to strive for and emulate, as he was awarded the Company’s Annual Distinguished Service Award four times and also won well deserved accolades for a "Job Well Done" on many occasions. He was a quiet, confident leader, who led by example, and by all who tally such accounts, will be remembered for years to come, as his cherished memory will be indelibly written upon the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.
Now Therefore, Be it Resolved:
That these feeble and inadequate words and thoughts of a grateful Company be inscribed and spread upon the records of the Corporation and conveyed to his family so that they may know of the high esteem that he was held by countless numbers for so long a period of time. As he so richly deserves, may our Lord receive him into the arms of his mercy and into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light.
